The Department of Information Technology is the nerve center of the Institute, which caters to the need of each and every student. These days everybody uses computers knowingly and unknowingly. It is a tool, the knowledge of which is essential at least for every engg. Graduate and therefore, the Department of Computer Science runs two courses for all under graduate students where they learn important programming languages at attain simple knowledge of writing programmes they are also exposed to the use of internet from where they can get the latest information on any walk of life. The dept runs two undergraduate programs that is Computer Science & Enng. and information tech. In addition to this it also runs one postgraduate programme in Masters of Computer Application (MCA).

In the Computer Science & Engg. Program emphasis is laid on the course like Microprocessor, DBMS, Computer Network Compiler construction, Distributed System, Computer Graphics and Animation etc. and here almost equal weight age is give to the teaching of courses related to hardware and software. The progarmme of Information Tech. also needs the basic courses computer science but the focus line is on the courses which deal with the storage and sizing of information such as Multimedia System Cryptography and Network Security, E-commerce, Bio-Informatics.

The state-of-art Computer Center and its supporting laboratories have an array of approximately 700 high end latest configuration computers, which are capable of constant development of various application with high speed data processing in LAN and WAN environment supported by client-server computing facility. The various servers i.e. NT4. 1/2000, Red Hat Linux 7.2, Win-Proxy, SCO Unix, PWS, IIS, MS-SQL Server, Oracle Server etc. with the kerberose authentication satisfies the requirements .
The Department takes pride in its recourse pool of more than 20 core faculty members in specialized expertise in various areas. The dept. has all the required software. The important once among them are: all Microsoft Products, C++ , TC-4.5, VC++, BC, Oracle, Linux, Unix, Norton Utility, Java, JDBC, JSDK, and Beans etc.

In addition to the course curriculum department of computer science organizes special session on Emerging Technologies to keep pace with rapidly changing IT scenario. Greater emphasis is also given on final year projects by implementing the new technologies as per the need of industries. Some of the prominent academic projects are: Network Capturing Using Neural Networks, Guided Automation and Sensing, Touch Tone Banking, Smart Server, Speech- Pattern- Biometric Recognition Manufacturing Automation System Using Database etc. in addition to computer center the department has the following independent laboratories .
